September 9-14, 2014: Entries that cover long periods of time - A sign of things to come

9/9:

Took Lexi (my dog) to daycare so she could get some energy out and I could do what I needed to do. The weather is quite a bit cooler after all the rain yesterday. Did a 4.6 mile run in 45 min with the HRM and it went well. I ended up pacing an avg of 9:47 min/mi. I ate a protein bar afterward since I guess that's what I'm suppose to do. I did the run with my Nike watch in my fuel belt, just so I could keep logging my data on Nike+. All in all I felt good. Did yoga before the run, as I do every time. I was going to do some strength afterward, but with the girly cramps I feel like maybe tomorrow will be a better day for that. We'll see. I had enough time to shower and upload my runs before picking up Lexi. Other than that, I worked on Chris' anniversary gift a little and relaxed. I don't feel like I got a lot done today, but I accomplished some of the necessities. Chris and I went to Tijuana Flats for dinner after his run, yay for Taco Tuesday! Probably not the healthiest of dinners, but I guess that's okay for now.




 9/10 - 9/14:

 I had a busy several days. I've been working on/trying to finish Chris' anniversary gift, so even though I had off Tuesday through Thursday, I basically only did that, worked out, and cleaned. I made some jewelry too, but only because I can't work on his gift when he's around. Back to work Friday through today (Sunday). I swam Wednesday morning, but I really didn't want to get out of bed. Swimming felt good though, took it kind of easy because my shoulder has been a bit iffy, but it felt okay after practice. Thursday I was suppose to do a 45 min run, but only did 4.45 miles in those 45 min. I felt like I had a rock in my gut for the last mile and wasn't able to keep my heart rate in check because of it, even though I slowed my pace significantly. All in all not a fun run, but I got the 45 min in. I took Friday off from training, rest day! I was going to do some strength training, but needed to get some other stuff done. Didn't get to bed early enough Thursday night to make it to swim practice Friday morning. I had a late dinner and wanted to give my food time to settle. I forced myself to get up on Saturday morning and swim though, had a board meeting after practice so I had to drive up there anyway. My shoulder was a little bit sore but not too bad. Biggest issue was flirting with a calf cramp all practice. It made it hard to push off walls, and in a set of 5x400 that's very frustrating. That was followed by a fin set, so needless to say that didn't work out all that well. Did a total of 4500 yards (only 500 yds less than everyone else). I was really tired at work later that day. The meeting was at the pool so I didn't get breakfast until around 11am. I had breakfast with Kristen and it was nice to hang out and chat. Stopped at Goodberry's on my way home (mint choc chip was the flavor of the day). On Sunday I did my longest run ever, 11 miles. 1:53:13, pacing just over 10 min/mi. Only looked at HR and distance remaining throughout the run and feel pretty good about it all. Hopefully I can keep this up! I used  my new fuel belt hand water bottles and they worked pretty well. Received the fuel belt stuff on Thursday or Friday (can't remember). The weather was awesome for my long run. Temperature was around 70 degrees with an intermittent breeze. A little humid, but not as bad with the temp a bit lower. Hoping to have a lot more days like today to run in. This week looks pretty good for that!
